Best Job In The World

Don’t listen to me
I like lying more than sex
And I can lie in any bed

My dad told me combine two thoughts:
What you’re good at and what you like
Then you might win any game
And lying means no limit on your score

It’s so much fun to fabricate
The bigger the lie, the greater the prize
You start by discounting reality
Slowly create your own
Next sell it so that’s all they see

Most folks want to disbelieve
Don’t like the truth to be true
They’d prefer heaven on Earth
Fortunes in the bank and sugar in the gut
Tell them what they wish can’t be done
You’ve told them what they crave

Such a blast when you see them break
First suspect, distrust, then despise
Finally the scales fall
They’ve seen the new true universe:
And they love it
Love it so much they’ll sell it for you

Every action gets its reaction
Honest folk now seen as liars
Scientists fantasists
Teachers traitors
All the power of what’s straight and true
Reverses field and works for you

It’s so easy to woo this world
The crazier you get the more you’re adored
You’re giving them what they always wanted
A world that makes sense

But you don’t believe me, do you?
Please go out and use your eyes
Come and see what’s what
I promise you – you’ll soon lie liberally
Winning every day
