Last of the Patriarchs

Where are my weeping slaves?
Ancient flags hang limp round the palace
Who took down mine?

Today they imagine they’re free
But I gave them liberty
Freedom to know, to decide, to act
No freedom is greater than control

My enemies claim the future
Shout slogans of justice and fairness
Ever met these folks?
Spoke to justice and fairness?
They’re old and frail, flee in the breeze

I stand as our nation’s hurricane
Mountains and valleys bow to my will
As will these new fools
Ideas never save the damned

Gather all my weapons
I’m not scared to use them
Because others fear them
They will lose

You take from the world first for survival
Learn quickly survival is war
Recognize the fight never ends

The tall pointed cliff from which you rule
That peak you climbed on your knuckles and knees
Surges each day, its elevation so great
You’ll never hear them fall
