Moonshades

Moonshades

The light hears you and brightness attacks
Petals in the garden turns shadows to lasers
I can’t escape this moon

We stayed friends for so long
She taught me how to fly past dreams
Why does your light cut like knives?

Perhaps she copies the swollen sun
Amplifying, reddening
Scorching plains and forests

In the workshop I take silver and glass
Hammer a lens into spectacles
Filter the brilliance that causes such fear

Sun and moon are coming for us
Too very soon
